WHAT YOU MISSED THIS SUNDAY | O QUE VOCÊ PERDEU NESSE DOMINGO

Great ride this Sunday. Perfect weather for this time of the year, excellent company and good speed. In total made 104 kilometers in exactly 4 hours. Very constant speed and 3 good small climbs to test the legs.

Um treino excelente neste domingo. Clima perfeito para esta época do ano, boa companhia e boa velocidade. Um total de 104 quilômetros em exatas 4 horas. Um treino bem constante e 3 das melhores subidas da região para testar nossas pernas.

FIRST TEAM RIDE | PRIMEIRO TREINO COM O TIME

I’ve just finished the first team ride with the colleagues from work. 87 kms in 3h07m, around the center of Holland. Good feeling to be riding again with a big group. We were around 40 riders and got good speed all the way, keeping most of the time around 30 kms/h even not pushing. We will have a strong team this year overall.


Acabei de terminar a primeira volta de treino com o time de colegas do trabalho. 87 kms em 3 horas e 7 minutos ao redor do centro da Holanda. Bom treinar outra vez com um grupo grande. Éramos por volta de 40 ciclistas e conseguimos manter uma boa velocidade durante todo o treino, ficando por volta dos 30 kms/h com o curação por volta dos 150 bpm. Vamos ter um grupo forte este ano.

NO SORE LEGS

A novidade da semana é que comecei a tomar chá com resultados impressionantes. O efeito do chá de cereja e frutas vermelhas em combinação com chá verde limpa os músculos de ácido lático e no dia seguinte nada de dores ou caimbras. Vale a pena tentar. Leia mais depois do link.


The news of the week is that I've started to drink tea with amazing results. The cherry and red fruit tea in combination with green tea clean the muscles from the acid lactic and I got no sore legs in the following day. Worth the try. Read more after the jump.

SUNDAY RIDE

83 kms today in 3 hours and 20 minutes. Good ride with good weather. The sun was shinning, temperature around 8 degrees Celsius but with strong wind still. I did a tempo training, keeping hart rate around 150 bpm. Good results.

83 kms hoje em 3 horas e 20 minutos. Uma volta boa em bom tempo. O sol estava brilhando, temperaturas de 8 graus mas com vento forte. Fiz um treino "tempo", mantendo o coração por volta dos 150 batidas por minuto. Bom resultado.

MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDE IS BACK

Mountain bike training ride is back. Every Thursday the small group of colleagues is riding in the woods of Hilversum. There are a couple of routes, from easy and quick to a bit more hilly and sandy. All are difficult because is fast pace. I’m really happy with this week results and surprised with the max speed of 36kms/h… I guess that was in the last sprint already in the tarmac.


Vamos a volta semanal de mountain bike. Toda quinta-feira um grupo de colegas se reúne para uma volta nos bosque de Hilversum. Há várias rotas, da fácil e rápida à técnica com algumas elevações. Todas acabam sendo difíceis por causa do ritmo do pessoal. Esta semana estou contente com o resultado e surpreso com a velocidade máxima alcançada: 36 km/h… eu acho que foi no último sprint já de volta ao asfalto.

HAIL AND WIND | GEADA E VENTO

Tough week in the gym with an end worthed of it. Monday and Wednesday it was gym work. Heavy gym workouts. Tuesday and Thursday it was all about recovery training and pedaling technics training on the spinning bike. Friday and Saturday I've rested and today, 69 kms of pure suffering with everything the dutch weather could bring to the table.

Semana dura no ginásio que terminou com uma volta apropriada. Segunda e quarta foram dias de ginásio. Pesos mais pesados que na semana anterior. Terça e quinta foram dias de recuperação e treinar técnica de pedalar na bicicleta de spinning. Sexta e sábado eu descansei e hoje foram 69 kms de puro sofrimento com tudo o que o clima holandês pode jogar na sua cara.

HOW THE DUTCH GOT THEIR CYCLE PATHS

Since the training this last week was not so different from the previous one (winter training in its best: boring),  I've decided to post something off topic for this week. But still related to bikes. The above video was sent by a friend and basically explain a lot of my feelings why cycling feels a lot of resistance in places like Brazil: not the right moment. No public opinion (no pain do outrage a real mass of people) that doesn't move politians that don't make the changes. Only when the 3 factors are in the table it can happen. Worth the time watching.

Já que o treino da semana passada não foi muito diferente da anterior (treino de inverno no seu melhor: mesmice), eu decidi postar alguma coisa fora de contexto do treino. Mas ainda relacionado às bicicletas. O vídeo acima foi enviado por um amigo e basicamente resume o que eu penso sobre a resistência que o ciclismo enfrentar em países como o Brasil: não é o momento certo. Não há opinião publica favorável (não há uma dor suficiente para atingir um número realmente massivo de pessoas) que não move políticos por pressão, que por sua vez não implementam mudanças verdadeiras e profundas. Somente quando os três fatores se alinham é possivel que alguma coisa realmente aconteça e permaneça. Depois do link eu traduzi o texto do vídeo para quem não fala inglês.

WINTER TRAINING MODE ON AND FITNESS TEST

This week the real winter started: snow and real cold (-16C). Since last Sunday the temperature are below zero and it means that real winter training started. I don't feel like forcing the training in the cold. Did once at -6 C and never anymore. The trainer in the leaving room and logging lots of hours in the gym. Also, I've dont the first fitness test of this year. But more on that after the jump.

Essa semana o inverno realmente começou: neve e frio de verdade (-16 graus). Desde o último domingo as temperaturas realmente caíram e o treino de inverno começou. Eu não me sinto motivado para enfrentar o frio. Fiz uma vez em -6 graus e nunca mais. O trainer está na sala e marcando horas no ginásio. Essa semana também fiz o primeiro fitness teste do ano. SECOND WEEK OF TRAINING

The second week of training was full. It all started with a ride against the wind and rain Holland style. It was suppose to be a 75 kms but only lasted 50 kms because we were so cold we couldn't feel anything.  The type of ride that makes you feel badass.

Nessa segunda semana de treino fiz bastante. Comecei com uma volta de 50 km no último domingo em condições muito duras por causa do vento forte e da chuva. O tipo que faz você se sentir "fodão". O resto da semana foi bom e com bom resultado.

Since my last post in the beginning of september not a lot hapenned. Off season on the bike, off season on the blog. But just to recap the last 4 months: I finished the Empella project and rode it to-from work from September until November (what made around 600 kms), went to Belgium in vacation and did a couple of rides there, started boxing classes and had a blast finding how out of shape I am and finally picked up also a bit of swimming and running. And this week I started training again for the L'Etape du Tour. So, here we go again.

Desde meu último post no começo de Setembro, não aconteceu muito. Fora da estação de treino, fora do blog. Mas para relembrar os últimos 4 meses: eu terminei o projeto Empella e usei a bicicleta para ir ao trabalho de Setembro a Novembro (o que fez por volta dos 600 kms), fui para a Bélgica de férias e deu umas voltas por lá, entrei em aulas de Boxe e morri de rir vendo o quanto eu estou fora de forma de novo e finalmente comecei a correr e nadar. E esta semana comecei outra vez o treinamento para o L'Etape du Tour. É, lá vamos nós outra vez.

PAINT JOB DONE

Paint job done. Today I will only post the pictures as it is already too late. I'm very happy with the results and with the learnings. I will tell about it tomorrow.

Pintura está pronta. Hoje vou colocar somente as fotos já que está tarde. Eu estou satisfeito com o resultado e com o aprendizado. Eu conto amanhã.

PROJETO EMPELLA: TEASER

As a teaser while the bike frame isn't finished (still 4 days to go) I've decided to show the late 70's Campagnolo shifters. I've got them yesterday and I have to say they look very good. The craftmanship that were put in those type of things were impressive.

Para atiçar um pouco a curiosidade, já que o frame não está pronto (ainda vai levar uns 4 dias) decidi postar os passadores Campagnolo dos anos 70. Eu comprei eles ontem e tenho que dizer que são muito bonitos. O empenho no trabalho que se colocava nessas coisas é impressionante.

Well, I think I just realized why companies create prototypes and samples. As much we want to work on digital, nothing like seeing the real thing. I thought about the style, tested on photoshop but still it didn't work in real life.

Bem, eu acho que acabei de descobrir porque empresas fazem protótipos. Por mais que a gente queira tentar trabalhar só no digital, nada como ver a coisa realmente. Eu pensei no desenho, testei no photoshop e ainda assim não funcionou na vida real.

PROJETO EMPELLA: WEEK 6

So, the primer application is completed. I'm really happy with the results. Take a look at some pictures after the jump. Next step: paint first color layer.

PROJETO EMPELLA: WEEK 6

Because I got a week with the flu and 2 weeks holiday, the bike project has been stopped for quite some time. The last thing I’ve done before this absence from the shed was to completely sand the frame and fork. But because the frame is unprotected, some rust just came back in some small spots. This week I’ve re-sanded those pieces and prep everything for painting.
