CERVELO FIRST RIDE

First ride today with my new bike: 93 kms in 3 hours and 23 minutes. The bike is fantastic: comfortable and fast. And the day was perfect: sunny but not really hot. Hoje dei minha primeira volta com a bicicleta nova: 93 kms em 3 horas e 23 minutos. A  bicicleta é fantástica: muito confortável e rápida. E o dia foi perfeito: com sol brilhando mas não quente. Le'ts start with the first easy comparisons: both bike are Shimano Ultegra compact 10 speed. I've ridden both with the Dura Ace C 24 wheels. And both have top end saddle and aluminium handlebar and stem. The Cervelo is 6.8 kgs and the Giant is 7 kgs. So, very little difference. But then the differences start. The Cervelo has a much higher head tube (helped by a taller steering tube and a positive steering pen). That gives is a much more comfortable position, with one feeling inside the bike against the feeling of really being on top of the bike like in the Giant. Another difference is the wheel base size. The Giant has a shorter wheel base, which makes it very responsive. Great for descending and turning at high speed. The Cervelo has a longer wheel base (I measured it) and it makes is more stable and also comfortable bike.  One last difference is the back triangle made by the seat tube, sit stays and chain stay. The sit stays are so thin that you are kind of afraid it can brake in the first pot hole. That combined with the splited sit stays, it is very compliant and adds to the comfortable feeling even on stone roads. The Giant has one single tube coming down from the top tube and it split only when it is very close to the wheel. So, it is very stiff back end but it really breaks your back on long rides. The incredible thing is that because of the layup of the carbon, the Cervelo is so stiff that it makes out for all the 'comfortable" pieces on the handling. The bike corners really nicely and I'm really happy with it. Still have to adjust here and there but it is already great. Going up the Amerongensebeg was a blast. The bike asks you to keep going. I haven't compared yet, but I reckon it was at least 20% faster. Great bike!

Vamos começar com as comparações mais fáceis: as duas tem grupos Shimano Ultegra compact com 10 speed. Eu fiz a comparação usando a roda Dura Ace C24. As duas tem selas top e guidon de alumínio. A Cervelo é 6.8 Kgs e a Giant é 7 kgs. A diferença em peso não é muito grande. Mas aqui as diferenças começam. A Cervelo tem uma frente muito mais alta (ainda mais alta por causa do garfo e mesa positiva). O que faz com que ela seja muito confortável. Dá a sensação de estar dentro e fazendo parte da bicicleta e não em cima dela como é o caso da Giant. Outra diferença é a distância entre as duas rodas. A giant tem uma distância curta, o que faz com que ela seja muito viva. É muito boa para descidas rápidas e técnicas. A Cervelo tem uma base muito mais longa, o que faz com ela seja mais estável e outra vez mais confortável. A última diferença é o triangulo traseiro formado pelos 3 tubos que seguram a roda. O que desce da sela até a roda são tão finos que dá até medo de quebrar. Mas combinado com o formato separado em duas, eles absorvem muito a vibração que vem do chão fazendo a bicicleta outra vez muito confortável. A Giant tem um tubo único e grosso que nessa região, o que faz  a bicicleta ficar muito estável e reativa, mas que acaba com as costas em treinos longos. A parte incrível é que por causa do design do carbono, a Cervelo é muito rígida mesmo com todos as conseções para conforto e dirigibilidade. A bicicleta faz curvas perfeita e rápida e eu estou muito feliz com ela. Ainda tenho que fazer alguns ajustes, mas a bicicleta é perfeita. Subindo a ladeira do Amerongensebeg foi muito bom. A bicicleta pede por mais velocidade. Eu ainda não comparei com resultados da Giant, mas eu acho que foi pelo menos 205 mais rápida.
