ANNUAL TRAINING

Bye bye blue sky until March… Winter is coming.

Left today the home to go to work on a 1 degree Celsius cold. Frost on the ground and very cold wind. So, the decision to get on the bus instead of the bike was the right one. Commuting days are over for this year: too dark and too cold. The good news is that the annual training plan is ready and already in motion.

Saí de casa hoje para ir pro trabalho num frio de 1 grau positivo. O chão estava congelado e o vento muito frio. Ainda bem que fui de ônibus e não de bicicleta. Ir pro trabalho de bike acabou esse ano: muito escuro e frio de manhã. A boa notícia é que o plano annual de treino está pronto e entra em prática hoje.

COLD MORNING

3.839 kms riden this year vs 3.981 in 2012. Not bad considering March was lost.

Good training week finishing with a ride on the Amsterdam rijkanaal. 50 kilometer tempo riding on 7 degrees cold windless morning.  With this ride I’m very close to the same amount of kilometers from last year. Not bad at all after loosing March training.

Bom treino para fechar a semana com uma volta pelo Amsterdam rijkanaal. 5o quilômetros em um treino de ritmo em uma manhã de 7 graus sem vento. Com este treino eu estou muito perto da mesma distância do ano passado. Nada mal para quem perdeu todo treino em Março.

MISS MOUNTAINS

Saw today this video from Rapha and really got a case of missing spring & summer cycling in France. Maybe is just the Autumn effect or dark and wet cycling mornings, with a full outfit with base layer, shirt, jacket, big gloves and shoe covers.

Hoje vi esse video do Rapha e fiquei realmente com saudade de dar umas voltas nas montanhas da França. Talvez seja só o efeito das manhãs escuras e chuvosas de Outuno, com roupa completa de esquente interno, camisa, jaqueta, luvas e cobertura para os sapados.

Some people say he was drafting, some say he was pushing the truck with the right arm. All I know is I like the mudguards…

Alguns dizem que ele estava no vácuo, outros que ele estava empurrando o caminhão com o braço direito. O que eu sei é que eu gosto dos paralamas.

2014 L'ETAPE DU TOUR

PROFILE OF 2014 ETAPE. ALMOST THE SAME AS 2008 BUT 30 KMS SHORTER

Two weeks ago the 2014 L'Etape du Tour was announced. It is going to be 148 kms from the city of Pau to the top of the Hautacan mountain, going thru the almighty Col du Tourmalet. Sounds familiar? You bet! It is almost the same Etape of 2008 but with a bug chunk cut out of it! I do have mixed feelings about it. Look what I think about it after the link.

Duas semanas atrás a Etape du Tour de 2014 foi anunciada. Vão ser 148 kms saindo da cidade de Pau até o topo da montanha de Hautacan passando pelo poderoso Col du Tourmalet. Parece familiar? Podes crer! É quase uma cópia da Etapa de 2008, mas com uma parte bem grande cortada! Ainda não sei se gosto ou não disso. Veja depois do link os detalhes.

WINTER TIRES: BRAND OR NO BRAND

Because I bought a new bike I had to sold one of the old ones. That meant my trusted Ridley winter/commuting bike went away with the Vittoria Rubino Pro winter tires and i had to buy new winter tires for the Giant bike. The one that is going to face the elements in the next 6 months. Now that the bike has been installed with new tires i can say the process of choosing them has been an interesting one. Porque eu comprei uma bicicleta nova tive que vender uma das antigas. E lá se foi minha velha companheira Ridley com os pneus Vittoria Rubino Pro para inverno. E eu tive que comprar pneus novos para o inverno para a minha Giant. A bicicleta que vai enfrentar todo tipo de clima.
